Here are some of the things that we can work on in parenting counselling:

  • Learning how to handle children’s challenging emotions, behaviors, and mental health issues
  • Learning how to navigate difficult family dynamics, family of origin issues, and inter-generational trauma issues
  • Learning how to connect with and facilitate positive relationships with your kids
  • earning how to cope with your own stressors, relationship struggles, and mental health concerns so that you can be the empowered parent you want to be
  • earning how to keep yourself calm when your kids are misbehaving and how to help them learn how to regulate their own emotions
  • Finding out how to balance all the roles you take on, including parent, spouse, career, housework, self-care, relationships with extended family and friends, etc.
  • Healthy boundary-setting with others, including your children
  • Navigating social pressures from family, social media, and all other sources of “should/shouldn’t” and “right/wrong” information
  • Learning healthy parenting strategies that we didn’t learn in development
